1

No response or follow-up action is taken despite repeated complaints against a staff member.

Supervisors may have ignored the complaints or sided with the subject by not taking appropriate follow-up actions.

2

Staff members are often absent from their work positions although they have clocked in or reported duty.

Frontline staff members may be falsifying attendance records (e.g. clocking time cards for colleagues) to deceive the company.

3

The actual on-site workers deployed by service provider are often fewer than those shown on the attendance records.

Service providers may be employing “ghost workers” i.e. fictitious employees to deceive the company of wages.

4

Staff often complain about unfair duty rosters.

Supervisors may be accepting advantages from subordinates in exchange for favouring them in the duties allocation (e.g. shifts with overtime allowance).

5

Wages are paid to workers in cash through a middleman (e.g. foreman, supervisor).

Middlemen (e.g. foremen, supervisors) may be accepting advantages (e.g. introduction fee) from job applicants and workers in the recruitment process, and/or pocketing the workers’ wages.

6

A hired candidate has undeclared personal or family connection to the recruiting staff.

Recruiting staff may have abused their authority by hiring close associates without declaring conflicts of interest, thereby concealing their relationship.
