Common examples of conflict of interest situations

A staff member involved in a procurement exercise has an interest in or is closely associated with a supplier who is being considered for selection by the company. 

One of the candidates under consideration in a recruitment or promotion exercise is a family member, a relative or a close personal friend of the staff member responsible for the exercise.

A director of the company has financial interest in a company whose quotation or tender is under consideration by the Board.

A staff member (full-time or part-time) taking  up a part-time job with a contractor which is under his supervision.

A director or staff member accepts excessively frequent or lavish entertainment from the supplier or contractor of the company.
